CORE condemns

The Centre for Organisation research and Education (CORE) strongly condemned the bomb blast near Assam Rifles post, old Somtal Village, Chandel, on August 26 by an armed non-state organisation and the resulting inhuman reaction of the 3rd AR on the inhabitants of Old Somtal Village.
A press statement issued by CORE executive director alleged that the village inhabitants, including children and child bearing women, were forced to parade on the streets the whole day till around 8pm without food or water.
Mediapersons found children and family members huddled in fear, he continued.
AR personnels also allegedly expelled two villagers on the charge of planning the bomb attack.
CORE expressed their grief on the alleged inhuman actions of the 3rd AR in the name of counter-insurgency operation.
It also expressed concern for the physical and psychological welfare of the villagers and, thereby, condemned the inhuman actions of the AR towards the villagers of Somtal.
It further urged the State Government to take full responsibility of the incident and thereby, attempt to restore the chaotic condition of the village back to normal.
