Imphal, April 02 2018: The Rongmei Students' Organisation Manipur (RSOM) has endorsed the decision of the NSCN/GPRN Tatar Hoho to include Rongmei, Liangmei and Zeme tribes in the list of Naga tribes.

A press release issued by the students' organisation remarked that the decision has fulfilled a long standing aspiration of Rongmei people.

The Rongmei, Liangmei, Zemei and Inpui were recognised in the tribe list of the Constitution of lndia as Kabui and KatchaNaga tribe in 1950 whichare misnomers, it said.

The Central and the State Government recognised Rongmei, Liangmei and Zemei as separate and distinct tribe in the Constitution of lndia in 2012.While appealing to all the Rongmei people to welcome the Tatar Hoho's decision, it denounced the act of condemning the same decision by certain organisations.
