Kangpokpi, October 31 2024: Responding to alleged "inaccurate references" to Island Village as 'Island Champhai', the concerned village authority has clarified that as per 1963-1964 Revenue Department records, the village is officially recognized as Island Village.

A press note issued by Ramnganing Jajo, Chairman, Island Village, has clarified that no village by the name of 'Island Champhai' exists under the jurisdiction of Island Sub-Division of Kangpokpi district.

The Island Village Authority has urged everyone to refrain from using the term 'Island Champhai' or any other allegedly incorrect designation to refer to the village.
