Imphal, November 22 2012: The Maram Students' Union has taken up a verification drive of non-locals from November 17-21 .

During the drive cards were issued to non-locals after scrutinizing their permanent address with photo, said a statement issued by president of MKS (Maram Students' Union) while adding that the drive primarily focussed at market places and strategic locations along NH-2 .

While maintaining that the students' body is not against diversity of culture, it stated that it is high time the people are sensitive and remain vigil over the infiltration of immigrants who venture in the land to work or stay.

Apart from collecting statistics during the drive, locals were also sensitised on the matter, it added while acknowledging the support and cooperation of volunteers and all concerned during the drive.
