Bishnupur, May 21 2015 :
Due process for common entrance test (CET) for admission to Class XI in eight selected Government Higher Secondary Schools has been initiated today.
As application forms were issued for the first time today, students and parents could be seen standing in long queues at the eight schools.
Under the new initiative which is aimed at improving the State's education sector, special coaching classes for medical and engineering courses would be arranged for economically backward students free of cost.
For this, the State Government has set aside a sum of Rs 50 lakh.
Daily classes conducted at the eight Higher Secondary Schools would be monitored by eight selected officers and these officers would also interact with students inside classrooms every month.
The new initiative is also aimed at discouraging the growing culture of private tuition, informed a source.
