Areca nuts worth Rs 8.8 lakh recovered

Imphal, December 18 2021:
Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) recovered 1600 kg of banned areca nuts worth Rs 8.8 lakh from near Khubung Khullen village in Chandel district on Friday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), during border domination patrol, troops of Assam Rifles observed huge quantity of bags stacked in a concealed location near Khubung Khullen village.
On thorough searching of the area, 1600 kg of banned areca nuts were recovered in 20 bags.
The recovered contraband items have been later handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Pallel for further legal action, it added.
