Imphal, July 13 2019: One room on the ground floor of Manipur Bhavan, Guwahati caught fight last night.

One Senior Stenographer and his son who occupy the room were not present when the fire broke out.

It is said that people occupying neighbouring rooms came to know of the fire when they smelled smoke and burning things, and checked the particular room.

They said that the fire raged for around one hour.

Soon they brought fire extinguisher from four/five rooms away and extinguished the fire.

Although there was an LPG cylinder inside the room, it did not explode fortunately.

It is suspected that the fire broke out from a cloth which fell over a burning mosquito-repellent coil during which the ceiling fan was also kept on.
