Imphal, March 12 2018: The All Tribal Student Union, Manipur (ATSUM) said late tonight that "intense form of agitation will be launched in the entire hill districts if the charter of demands of the tribal student body are not met within March 2018 as assured by the Honourable Chief Minister during the official discourse with ATSUM on December 19, 2017 at his official residence", reports NNN.

The apex tribal student body stated that no inauguration of schools or any related official function should be conducted in the course of the agitation.

"Anything taken up against the interest of the tribals will be construed as anti-tribal", ATSUM stated.

"To this end, all the constituent units are urged to keep a strict vigil and co-operate with the ATSUM till the end", the apex tribal student body informed.

According to ATSUM, having turned a deaf ear to the "genuine demands" of the tribal student body in education sector and other departments, it has started its first form of agitation in the form of picketing ZEO offices on March 10 .
