Marup weekly celebrates 56th anniversary

Kakching, May 08 2024: Marup, the oldest Manipuri weekly in the North East, celebrated its 56th anniversary on Wednesday at its office at Banamalipur Mathchowmuhani in Tripura.

The anniversary event was attended by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president L Birmangal as chief guest, Marup editor RK Kalyanjit as president and social activist L Kumar and Manipuri Literary and Cultural Forum secretary Khoisnam Mangal as guests of honour.

The event concluded with a poets' meet wherein 12 poets read out their poems based on Marup.

Notably, Marup weekly first published in the year 1969 and still continuing publication till date without any break.
