Imphal, August 07 2015 :
The Public Works Department has officially banned the movement of heavy vehicles along the Pallel-Moreh section of the National Highway.
The Imphal-Moreh National Highway was blocked to vehicular traffic in the last week of July following landslides at many places.
Movement of light motor vehicles started only a few days back after the landslides were cleared.
According to a notification issued by the Executive Engineer of National Highway Division-II, L Debendra the ban on movement of heavy vehicles has been imposed as there is still the danger of the road developing cracks and sinking and culverts had broken down at many places.
As movement of heavy vehicles would pose a danger to the safety of the travellers, the ban has been imposed.
The officer has also appealed to all to bear with the inconveniences until the road is fully repaired.
On the other hand the Meitei Council, Moreh (MCM) has appealed to the authority concerned to repair the road stretch at a good speed, reports our correspondent.
MCM has also been extending all the help it can to the flood ravaged people of Myanmar.
People of Myanmar have been coming to Moreh to collect donation for the flood hit people.
