Imphal, September 05 2014 : Loktak Power station, NHPC Ltd., under the project 'Netra Jyoti', conducted the 15th batch of free cataract operation on September 4 at Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Imphal.

About 13 cataract cases were successfully operated in the free cataract operation campaign.

The NHCP Ltd.

provided free medicine, subsidized cost of operation with foldable IOL, transportation and fooding for the patients.

They would also distribute free spectacles to the operated patients, a press statement informed.

Loktak Power Station, NHCP Ltd.

has been conducting the free cataract operations at Shija Hospital every week, under the project Netra Jyoti, with an aim to save the poorer section of the community from blindness.

During the current fiscal year, in fifteen batches, 160 cataract cases have been successfully operated.

Elderly persons with cataract cases are, thereby, informed to contact the doctors at Project Hospital, Loktak/Leimatak on all working days to avail the opportunity, the press release added.
