Concern group flays Government inaction

The Concern Group Against Life Threat to the Social Activist (Panti Gonmei) today expressed disappointment over the State Government's negligence to initiate action against the involved culprit(s) who reportedly threatened the human rights activist through an SMS and attacked the activist at her house.
Speaking to mediapersons in Manipur Press Club, G Benjamin, spokesperson of Panti Gonmei, condemned the State Government for failing enquire into the matter and pull up the involved culprit(s) .
G Benjamin asserted that Panti Gonmei is a human rights activist who has been working relentlessly for the cause of rape victims, children and other human rights abuse related activities.
Recounting the past incidents, Benjamin stated the activist received a life threatening SMS from an unidentified individual when she was travelling with the mother of a rape victim on December last year.
Following which was the gunfire attack at her house at Tarung in the wee hours on June 6 .
An FIR was registered however the police refused to take the complain, Benjamin added.
"Panti Gonmei has been fighting against injustices and against the violation of human rights.
To see the State Government not extending any assistance till date is discouraging.
We would like to demand the State Government to look into the matter and deliver justice" .
Activist Panti Gonmei asserted, "To attack a person who has been working for the cause of the voiceless is unreasonable.
The State Government must pull up the involved culprits and should be punished according to law" .
