Imphal, October 02 2018: A translated version of a book written by Bidyasagar Naorem, titled "The village and Refugee" was released at JN Manipuri Dance Academy today.

The original name of the Sahitya Akademi Award winning book is "Khungang amasung Refugee" which was translated to English as "The village and Refugee" by Salam Rupachandra Singh.

The book emphasises the period of brutality carried upon the people by the Indian Army under AFSPA.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Naorem Khagendra Singh, former convenor Manipuri language Advisory Board and Professor Huirem Behari Singh, president of Cultural forum Manipur as dignitaries.

The book was reviewed by L Joychandra Singh, Registrar, Manipur University of Culture.
