AR promotes sports

Imphal, August 31 2015:
A football match was conducted by 12 Bihar Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) between VERB club and Ghari Youth Welfare Association on August 30 at Ghari to promote sports in the region.
The match was well-contested and both the teams showed sportsmen spirit throughout the match.
An encouraging crowd of 150 people cheered the young players throughout the match.
The match was organised with the aim to strengthen the bonding between the local citizens and the Army and for further promoting the sports and games in the region.
In the 90 minutes of the game, both the teams put their best efforts to tackle the defenders and score goals.
The teams played the match with full enthusiasm and team spirit.
The VERB team scored five goals and GYWA scored two goals.
At the end of the match Commanding Officer, 12 Bihar appreciated the participants for their sportsmanship and stressed upon the youths to direct their energy on to the right path, thereby constituting unity and peace in the area.
