Imphal, December 31 2012: To check road accidents and rash driving Jiribam police today launched a crackdown on drunk driving, ahead of New Year today.

During the drive many vehicles were impounded under various charges such as driving without license, vehicles without documents, drunk driving, violating traffic norms etc.

According to Additional SP O Menjor Singh the drive was launched before hand so as to check road mishaps on New Year's eve and New Year.

The officer also appealed to all motorists to drive responsibly and carry all the relevant documents along with them.
