TKDC condoles
A general body meeting of the Thangmeiband Kendra Development Committee was held on August 2 at the residence of its Chief Patron, Radha Binod Koijam, former Chief Minister and condoled the death of Sapam Robinhood.
SEACO foundation day postponed
Supporting the ongoing mass movement in the state, South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) has postponed the observance of its foundation day which was scheduled on August 5. Secretary General of the organization in a release said that the foundation day will be observed on August 8, Saturday at the previously notified place and time.
Appealing to people from all walks of life to attend the event, the release also urged all not to call any bandh or general strike on this day.
Girl run over
One 23 years old girl, Roma Khetrimayum was run over on Tuesday afternoon at Thoubal Haokha Maning Leikai.
One truck lost control and dashed at a roadside shop and in the process the girl was also hit.
The truck was impounded.
Police have registered a case.
House gutted
One house and properties valued at over Rs one crore were burned to ashes on Tuesday.
The cause of fire was said to be leaking LPG cylinder.
Rs 50 lakh in cash, 40 mohors of gold were destroyed.
Nongthombam Nanao suffered burn injuries when he tried to douse the raging flames.
10 litres of petrol kept in the house also fuelled the fire.
Grocery items for sale were also destroyed.
Fire fighters took over 40 minutes to control the fire.
Two injured
Two persons who came in a two wheeler were injured since there is no street lamp near the culvert in front of the Kwakeithel police outpost.
The two wheeler hit a stationary truck there.
The two injured persons were identified as Tonang from Tamei and Akim of the same locality.
They suffered life changing injuries.
The two wheeler was also mangled.
