Two-day state mourning for Pope Francis

Imphal, April 22 2025: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla issued an order that a state mourning shall be observed as a mark of respect to His Holiness Pope Francis, Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, who passed away on Monday.

The order specified that the state mourning shall be observed on Tuesday and Wednesday followed by another state mourning on the day of the funeral, the date of which shall be intimated.

During the period of the state mourning, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where the national flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment, the order added.
