Imphal, February 15 2016: A team from IIT Guwahati today inspected Nupi Keithel 2 and Nupi Keithel 3 of Khwairamband market which were damaged in the January 4 earthquake.

The team drilled a portion of the concrete structure of Nupi Keithel 3 and collected core sample for laboratory test.

It is reported that how the market complexes would be repaired/re-constructed would be determined based on the analysis of the core sample.

As the market complexes were only partially damaged, they are most likely to be repaired rather than re-constructing them.

Nonetheless, the design of the market complexes may be altered slightly depending on the findings of the analysis.

It is reported that the team would collect core sample of Nupi Keithel 2 tomorrow.
