Imphal, February 12 2016 : About 35 loaded trucks have been stranded at Lei-ngangpokpi, Jiribam (NH 37) due to Jiribam District Demand Committee's (JDCC) economic blockade which has been demanding upgradation of Jiribam sub-division into a revenue district, our Jiribam correspondent reports.

Although no violence have been reported till now, goods carriers are facing huge difficulties because of the blockade.

Security personnel on the other hand, are escorting goods loaded trucks towards Imphal, this correspondent has reported.

Mention may be made that JDDC had called economic blockade along NH 37 from the midnight of Febraury 10 to 15 demanding upgradation of Jiribam sub-division into a Revenue district.

The committee had also warned that a total blockade would follow if the State Government fails to address their deamnd by the end of the economic blockade.
