Imphal, September 11 2019: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has extended her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, especially Jain brethren on the occasion of 'Anant Chaturdasi 2019', which falls on September 12.In her message, the Governor said that the festival is observed every year as 'Vegetarian Day' to promote and disseminate the message about the merits of leading a vegetarian life.

Conveying that 'Ahimsa' or non-violence is a fundamental tenet of Jainism, Dr Najma prayed for the festival to spread the message of love, kindness and forgiveness to all sections of the society.
