Imphal, October 02 2018:
Like every season, Amur Falcons have started arriving at Tamenglong and people have sighted the migratory birds at Bhalok village of Tamenglong district.
Generally Amur Falcons, known as Akhoipuina in Kabui dialect migrate to Barak river and adjoining places from far off places particularly Siberia.
They come in batches and they will go away in batches, said a Forest official.
They feed on Leishou Tin, Harou, Koujeng (grasshopper) and mice.
Wildlife Institute of India and Hungarian Raptor Biologists have been planning to fit satellite radio transmitters on four Amur Falcons for research purposes in the first week of November, informed the source.
