Imphal, July 02 2013: Referring to the news item published under the heading "AITUC pledges support, IOC appeals", the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Manipur State Committee has clarified that it was CITU not AITUC which pledged support to the cease work agitation announced by the All Manipur Transporters' and Drivers' Forum.

Moreover, Debanjan Chakrabarti (written as Debanand Chakraborty) in the same news report who addressed media persons at Khuman Lampak Youth Hospital is not AITUC National General Secretary.

He is general secretary of the Construction Workers' Federation of India (CWFI), a unit of CITU of which he is a national executive committee member, according to a press release issued by CITU Manipur State Committee.

It also reiterated its support to the cease work strike announced by the All Manipur Transporters' and Drivers' Forum.
