79th Zeliangrong Solidarity Day observed

Imphal, April 01, 2013: The 79th commemoration of Zeliangrong Solidarity Day was observed early morning today at the memorial complex located Khoupilong Tamenglong ward No. V. The commemoration marks the signing of an accord to stop head hunting/ bloodshed among the Zeliangrong brothers by taking an oath called "Chuk thoibo/ Suk Toibe/ Chuksu- garaomei" in 1934.Subsequently, a memorial stone was erected by Zeliangrong Union in 2009 at Khoupilong, Tamenglong Ward No. V. Speaking on the commemorative event as a resource person, Dingsung Pamei, Vice President Zeliangrong Union (AMN) said that with the efforts of forefathers like (Late) Tadangbou, Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei and Inpui have been able to live peacefully.

He also appealed to all the leaders to advise the young people to work for the unity and integrity of Zeliangrong community.

On the occasion, a two minutes silent prayer was observed in respect of the departed souls of Zeliangrong leaders.

Nganthuang, Ex- Vice President Naga Hoho, leaders of Zeliangrong Union, Zeliangrong Women Union and Village/ward Chairman were among others who attended the commemorative event.
