Imphal, July 31 2016: A silent mass rally would be taken out at Imphal on August 16 in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice made by Pebam Chittaranjan who immolated himself on August 16, 2004 in protest against the Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

A commemorative function would also be held at THAU Ground on the same day, conveyed a press release issued by the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) .

A statue of the martyr would be unveiled on August 16 at Bishnupur Keithel where he self-immolated against the draconian law.

A blood donation camp would also be organised at THAU Ground, it added.
