Imphal, June 30 2015 :
With the primary objectives of fighting corruption, misgovernance, injustice and violation of human rights, a new body christened People for Change, Manipur (PCM) has been formed.
This was announced during a press meet at AMBA office by Advocate Khaidem Mani.
He said that PCM's main activities would be announced to the public next week.
There are many organisations in Manipur which have been fighting against human rights violation, violence against women and also for promotion of art and culture.
But there is no organisation which is dedicated to fight against corruption, misgovernance and injustice.
A meeting held on Saturday agreed to set up a platform to fight against these social ills and this common concern gave birth to PCM, Khaidem Mani said.
PCM's first endeavour would be persuading the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers to declare their annual incomes and assets to the public.
Mani said that PCM would act by employing provisions of RTI Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and Lok Ayukta Act.
