Imphal, July 21 2014: As part of the "Go Green Drive" launched by 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) with effect from July 1, a tree plantation drive was carried out at Wabagai and Sugnu on July 19 and planted around 600 saplings on barren patches.

The drive was carried out in cooperation with civil authorities including forest department and village authorities a total of 600 saplings were planted on barren patches, PRO IGAR (S) informed in a statement, and added that such initiatives will not only increase the green cover but will also help in raising the depleting underground water level.

More such drives have been planned to be conduct in subsequent days, the PRO added.
