Imphal, July 18 2014 : An organization under the name of 'Handicapped Welfare Society' at Kakching is collecting money as donation, said Churachandpur District Disabled Union (CDDU) while adding that it is a disgrace to the community and the CDDU in particular.

A press statement of CDDU stated that the 'Handicapped Welfare Society' was granted permission by the Deputy Commissioner only to conduct Door to Door Survey, Awareness and Counseling (DDSAD) for a period of one week from 1 to 7 July, 2014 .

But the Society is collecting money without issuing any receipt and it is still exploiting the permit even after expiry of validity.

Appealing to the general public to remain alert on such unscrupulous societies or individuals, the CDDU has called upon the concerned authorities to inform the CDDU when cases related to the disabled arise.

The CDDU also said that it is a Union formed and run by the disabled for the disabled with the sole intention of uplifting the special community and to streamline what is due to them.
