Imphal, September 28 2012: A peon of Public Works Department has been suspended while another employee is likely to face the same punishment in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 70 lakhs from the department.

An official source informed that the peon was suspended based on police report.

Police furnished the report after collecting statements from another employee.

Police have pulled up a third employee of the department and the same has been intimated to the department.

It is reported that the third employee too would be suspended.

In connection with the same case, due process has been initiated to take action against 7/8 employees of Treasury Department.
