WAD decries threat on social activist

Imphal, September 04 2014: Pointing out that Panti Gonmei is a human rights defender who has been working relentlessly for the cause of rape victims, children and other human rights abuse related activities and fighting against injustice and against the violation of human rights in Manipur, Women Action for Development (WAD) has strongly condemned the life threat on Panti by some unidentified persons on June 2014 at her residence at Tarung.

In a statement, WAD lamented that attack on human rights defenders in Manipur is becoming very frequent but the state government and the state forces did not take up any action or punished any culprit.
