AMUPTA demands teachers' promotion

Imphal, July 23 2014: Following the State Education Department's directive for promotion of 938 undergraduate/primary teachers to graduate teachers' posts in November 2013, the government has effected promotion for 812 teachers while leaving out 126 teachers in the process.

Issuing a statement in this regard, Chalamba Luwang, Secretary of All Manipur Undergraduate/Primary Teachers' Association lamented that even after 8 months, the Department has failed to give promotion to the remaining 126 teachers.

The DPC for the remaining teachers has not been held so far.

Meanwhile, a number of undergraduate teachers have even retired from service without availing promotions and more are also going to retire, the statement pointed out, while drawing the attention of the Education Minister and others to effect promotions for the 126 left out teachers prior to the rationalization.
