Thoubal bandh in force, extended by another 48 hours

Thoubal, October 29 2015: The 48 hours Thoubal district bandh imposed by the JAC against the killing of Sinam Tomboi continued in full force yesterday with police firing tear gas shells on bandh supporters at Waithou, our correspondent reports.

Bandh supporters who attempted to disperse vendors at Thoubal Keithel in the noon yesterday were stopped by a team of Thoubal police.

The market places, however, saw low turn out due to the bandh.

A statement issued by the JAC convenor has also extended the bandh for another 48 hours following the silence of authorities concerned regarding Tomboi's death, this correspondent reports.

The JAC has further demanded State Government to take up judicial enquiry into the death of Tomboi at the earliest.
