Jiribam, September 27 2011:
The 60 hours general strike called by the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) in pursuit of its demand for upgradation of Jiribam sub-division to a full fledged revenue district has severely paralysed normal life in Jiribam.
No vehicles plied on the road of Jiribam excepting vehicles of security personnel.
Shops, Government offices and educational institutions remained shut, reports our correspondent.
Effigies of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and tyres were burnt on roads at different places by bandh supporters.
However, there was no report of any untoward incident till the time of filing this report.
