Imphal, July 25 2014 : A private member resolution initiated by L Nandakumar and Dr Ng Bijoy about upgrading RIMS to the status of AIIMS which was elevated to the present position after the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Act 1956 was amended in 2012 was passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly today.

Supporting the motion, Health Minister Phungza-thang Tonsing stated that the proposal to upgrade RIMS to the status of AIIMS has been already placed before the Union Health Ministry but the Ministry is unable translate the proposal into action.

The Manipur Assembly need to adopt a resolution and forward it to Parliament.

Ibo-halbi took part in discussing the private resolution.
