Imphal, September 24 2017: One Yumnam Sitanjit (26) s/o Y Temba of Yairipok Malom, Thoubal district who reportedly won Junior Mr India title at Indore, Madhya Pradesh this year was arrested today in connection with a rape case registered at Singjamei police station .

The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West-II and the Court remanded him to police custody till September 29 .

According to a press release issued by Human Rights Law Network (Manipur) director Meihoubam Rakesh, the accused and the victim came to know each other through Facebook before Sitanjit coerced the girl and allegedly raped her with the false promise of marrying her.
