Imphal, July 23 2014: Condemning the killing of Shaloni Akha, Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) has urged the Delhi Government and Central Government to take up necessary steps to award befitting punishment to the culprits and ensure safety to North East people residing in Delhi.

Saying that such violent incidents are tragic and shocking not only to NE people but also to the people of the whole country, the Council in a press statement said that if India believes in unity and integrity, the Government must ensure safety to its citizens in any part of the country.

On the otherhand, the Council lauded MLAs Karam Shyam and I Ibohalbi for taking up the issue in the State Assembly.

It also hailed Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam for his positive response made on the floor of the State Assembly.

The Council said that it would react accordingly if necessary steps are not taken up to check such racial attacks in future.
