Imphal, March 21 2016: For the first time, a locomotive ballast train (goods train) reached Dholakhal station along Jiribam-Tupul railway line today.

The locomotive ballast train which reached Jiribam at 7.55 am comprised of 53 bogies before it was flagged off for Dholakhal where many officials of NEF Railway were present.

Notably, after Silchar-Jiribam railway track was upgraded to broad gauge from metre gauge, a goods train having 21 bogies brought 1250 tonnes of FCI rice to Jiribam from Silchar on February 20 this year.

Another train of the Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) made a trial run on the same track on March 10 .
