Imphal, September 18 2013: Based on specific inputs, volunteers of Hunphun Katamnao Long (Ukhrul Students' Union) impounded several expired items including dhara (cooking oil), ghee, noodles, biscuits, oats, faloda, Tropicana juice and masala from three different shops at Viewland, Ukhrul yesterday.

The volunteers summoned the shops owners and issued strict warning while also ordering them to close their respective shop for two days as penalty.

President of HKL, HA Joyson told media persons that sale of expired goods within the district would not be tolerated at any cause and stern action will be awarded in case any shop is found selling expired goods.

The seized goods worth around Rs 15,000- 20,000 were set ablaze in front of the HKL office.
