Imphal, October 13 2012: A rice-laden truck was hijacked by some unidentified persons and looted all the goods in Keithelmanbi area along NH 2 under Kangpokpi police station before taking away the handyman by force.

A police source informed that a ten-wheeler truck was found parked at Keithelmanbi at about 7.30 am in suspicious manner.

When police inspected the truck, it was learnt that all its contents have been looted.

On searching the area, Kangpokpi Police found some bags of rice looted from the truck at a school located above Kangpokpi.

It has also been learnt that the rice bags were brought there by a Shaktiman truck driver.

Police suspected that the truck was looted by armed persons last night.

While district police have fanned out surveillance teams, correspondence was being made with Assam Rifles to rescue the abducted handyman, added the source.
