AR seizes contraband drugs worth 66 lacs

Imphal, January 13 2021: Troops of Singhat battalion of Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR (South) recovered contraband drugs (suspected brown sugar)worth 66 lacs approx near Baulkot village in Churachandpur district on January 11, 2021 .

A release by AR said that the contrabands were seized during routine checking at the area.

The contraband drugs were found while checking a passenger bus .

"After a thorough search of the vehicle, 22 soap cases concealed in a vegetable sack consisting of 13-15 gms of Brown Sugar and In addition to that illegal goods worth 63,360/- were seized", the AR statement said .

Three individuals and the recovered items have been handed over to Singhat Police Station for further investigation.
