ADRA visits relief camps

Considering the grave situation in flood-affected villages of Thoubal district, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Thoubal under the Thoubal DC led a team of Adventist Development & Relief Agency, India (ADRA), a global humanitarian organisation, to assess the immediate needs of the flood-affected people in Thoubal district yesterday.
The team visited Wangoo, Nungoo, Khongyam and Tangjeng villages under Kakching Block.
Youth leaders of NYK Thoubal were also included in the team.
While interacting with the people in relief camps at Wangoo Tampha Lairembi, Wangoo Tera, Wangoo Sandangkhong, Chairel Makha Leikai, Nungoo, Khongyam villages, it was learnt that though the local MLA has distributed relief materials, there is an acute shortage of potable water in all the relief camps.
Approximately 1500 families in the area have been affected by severe floods.
The medical team deputed by the District Magistrate and Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal has also visited the camps and distributed medicines.
