Imphal, January 08 2014: A civilian picked up by a team of 18 Sikh Regiment posted at Mayang Imphal Chabung Company was handed over to police char-ging the civilian of being a UG cadre.

Md Sukur (25) s/o Abdur Rashid of Mayang Imphal Chirai Awang Leikai was pulled up by troops of 18 Sikh Regiment from his home at around 12.30 am of January 5 .

Speaking to media persons at Sukur's home today, Md Junab Ali of the locality said that no arrest memo was given when Sukur was arrested although he was handed over to Mayang Imphal police station the same morning.

Sukur was handed over to police with the false charge of being a cadre of PULF (Azad group).

18th Sikh Regiment also claimed that one pistol and three live rounds were recovered from his possession.

But Sukur is an innocent farmer and he has no connection with any UG group, Junab Ali said.

Sukur's wife Urirei said that PULF surrenderee Bogimayum Tak-won-do (25) s/o Hatim Ali was among the Sikh Regiment troops when they came to arrest her husband.
