'Alimuddin's contribution to MU must be acknowledged'

Imphal, November 09, 2013: All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union (AMMGSU) has demanded the authorities of Manipur University to name a block or a stadium of the university in fond memory of former Chief Minister Md Alimuddin.

Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, President of AMMGSU Rukshar Choudhury said that former Chief Minister Alimuddin had taken pivotal steps to establish a university in the State.

Manipur University was established ultimately as a result of his intense pressure to the Central Government.

A block or a stadium of Manipur University should be named in memory of Alimuddin in due acknowledgement of his immense contributions to the establishment of the university.

The students' organization would also render all possible help and cooperation while organizing the foundation day of Manipur University on November 19, she added.
