2nd phase of 'Swachh Senapati river' undertaken

Imphal, April 28 2016: As part of the 2nd phase of 'Sanitization of Senapati River', Deputy Commissioner Jacintha Lazarus, SP K Kabib, SDOs, civil bodies, Makhrelui village leaders, colony lead- ers and locals flung into action to dismantle all illegal toilets and pig sty along the tributary of Barak River today, reports our correspondent.

Considered as one of the most important sources of water in the DHQs, Senapati river has been unfortunately used for dumping waste.

Eviction notice had been served a week back to all the owners who had constructed toilets along the river.

More than 10 pig sty and many temporary toilets with outlets draining into the river were dismantled by Senapati police.
