Imphal, February 28 2016: Decrying the faulty distribution of materials under Public Dis- tribution System, the Apunba Nupi Lup, Thanga today staged a sit-in-protest at Thanga Haoreng.

Police personnel performing duty at the area on discov- ering that the protest was staged without permission from the concerned DC told the protesters to wrap up the protest by 5pm.When the protesters refused to wind up their demonstration till after 5pm, the police fired about 10 tear gas shell among the protesters to disperse them.

Even though no one was injured in the hustle, Thanga Development Committee secretary H Kullachandra has con- demned the action of the police.
