Imphal, October 16 2015 : Manipur Excise Department on Friday burnt and destroyed 1556 liters of illegal wine seized from various places at its office complex, Lamphelpat.

Assistant Commissioner of Excise Department, K Joykumar said that the Excise Department seized the wine during the period between April and September this year from various locations of the State.

The department had collected around Rs 9,99,400 and a total of 833 cases were registered during the two months.

The department also collected a total of Rs 4,23,31,405 from red wines meant for for paramilitary forces, army and IRBs, said Joykumar while adding that the collected amount had been deposited to the Government Revenue Department.

Joykumar also appealed to all local clubs, organizations and meira paibis not to destroy any seized liquor but to hand it to the Excise Department.
