IGAR (S) recovers arms, ammos

Imphal, September 05 2014 : Based on specific intelligence about the presence of a huge cache of arms, ammunitions and explosives, troops of 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) and Thoubal Police Commandos launched an operation in the general area NW corner of Chingjao Island and recovered war like stores on 03 Sep 2014 .

According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the recovered warlike stores included one 9mm CMG country made with three Magazines, one 9mm Pistol with Magazine, one revolver country made, one Butt of unknown weapon, one Chinese Hand grenade, two R/S ICOM with battery, seven Detonators, one 7.62mm SLR magazine, one 5.56 INSAS magazine, thirty five 5.56 INSAS rounds, one hundred twenty one AK 47 rounds, ten 7.62 SLR rounds, thirty four 9mm rounds, four 45 AC rounds, nine point 38mm rounds, thirteen GF Rifles rounds, seventeen 7.65mm rounds and seven Single Bore Rifle rounds.

The recovered items were handed over to the Waikhong Police station, the PRO added.
