Planting of IED condemned

Condemning the planting of a powerful IED by unidentified persons at Old Keiphundai village in Tousem Sub-Division in Tamenglong District on July 18 last, the Village Chief of Old Keiphundai village Letna has appealed to all concerned not to repeat such incidents in future.
Talking to JNN, the village chief pointed out that if the IED had exploded, it would hurt and kill a number of villagers.
However, the team of 27 Assam Rifles and Manipur police could defuse the bomb in time, thereby saving the villagers from a catastrophe.
He lauded the security personnel for the same.
It may be recalled a powerful IED bomb weighing 5 kgs was found planted in the village, around 17 kms east of Jiribam along national highway no.37 on July 18 .
