Imphal, August 21 2021: In connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Chandel andSakbi One Stop Centre Chandel under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) organised a one-day legal awareness programme on "gender-based violence: Its effect to the social development" on Saturday.

The programme was attended by panel lawyers and PLVs along with representatives of Chandel and Tengnoupal NGOs and CSOs.

During the programme, advocate B Supriya spoke on gender based violence and violence against women in addition to societal customs, as resource person.

She also spoke on the plight of women, especially domestic violence victims who have been denied justice due to customary laws.

Later, a discussion on the topic of the programme was held.
