Imphal, January 13 2019: Condemning the passing of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 despite strong opposition from several sectors in the Lok Sabha recently, Democratic People Front and Ching-Tam Women Development Association will stage a sit in protest at Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar today, said a statement of Democratic People Front, Manipur.

The Bill will pose serious threat to the identities of indigenous people of the North East India if it becomes an Act as it would grant citizenship to 6 Non Muslim communities who have resided in the country for 6 years, added the statement and appealed all the NGOs and CSOs of the State to take part and support the protest demonstration.
