UGs blank firing in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, October 26 2012: Barely a day after Commander of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division hinted at launching operation to flush out armed underground elements from Tamenglong headquarters, suspected cadres of NSCN (K) and Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) camping in the district headquarters fired several rounds of guns in the air Friday morning.

The first gun firing was heard at Dimthanlong, Tamenglong Ward No.III around 8:35 am, it was followed by another firing near an petrol pump at Tamenglong ward no.4, while the third firing was atop Gadailong hill.

As usual panic reigned with businessmen immediately shut down their shops and market and people running for safety.

Unfortunately, the district administration has taken any steps in this regards even as the underground groups has been roaming around the town.
